The 2023 HBCU Pigskin Showdown kicks off from Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama on Saturday. The game is a showcase all-star game for the top HBCU prospects in the 2024 NFL draft. With that, scouts from several NFL teams are confirmed to be in attendance. They're trying to find the next HBCU NFL star, following in the footsteps of recent draft picks like Alabama State tackle Tytus Howard, South Carolina State linebacker Shaq Leonard, and North Carolina A&T running back Tarik Cohen.

One prospect to watch in this game is South Carolina State quarterback Corey Fields Jr. Fields began his career on a high note, leading the Bulldogs to a Celebration Bowl win in 2021. This past year he threw for 1,265 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Another quarterback participating in the game is Alcorn State's Aaron Allen. A two-year starter, Allen threw for 2,265 yards and 15 touchdowns this season as he led the Braves to a 7-4 record.
On defense, defensive back Cail Jackson Jr. of Alabama State will likely get attention from scouts. A preseason All-SWAC player, he finished the year with 37 tackles and two interceptions.
